Links to Free or Trial Assistive Technology Software
If you’re looking to trial some useful software I’ve found some for you to test out. They may not work exactly as you would like but they do a good job as very basic programmes that are fairly easy to use.
The following is a screen reader called Thunder:
Thunder it is an award-winning free screenreader talking software for blind and visually impaired people. Thunder is a reading aid and restores the ability to write, keep up to date with information, learning and work, while remaining within the mainstream of Society. Just follow the link and download
The next is a mind mapping software called PersonalBrain, very useful for people with Dyslexia:
PersonalBrain helps you organize all your Web pages, contacts, documents, emails and files in one place so that you can always find them – just like you think of them. This saves you time and makes your life easier! With PersonalBrain you can even find related items that you worked on, but forgot existed.

Voice and Speech Recognition Software
An easy software solution to enable you to control your computer, dictate emails and letters, and have the computer read documents back to you. Sorry this isn’t totally free and I haven’t tried it yet but the price is about £15
If these aren’t any good then visit our website to check out ones you can buy.
Over the coming weeks I hope to profile these products and give instructions on how to use them.
That’s if anyone requests this from me. I won’t do this unless I know you need it!
Let me know by leaving me a comment.
Thanks and happy testing
Sue
